  Tim Sexton was raised in Dallas, Texas and attended Jesuit High School. Graduated from St. Edwards High School in Austin, Texas.

Served four years in the U.S. Navy working in shipboard communications.

Graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor's degree in Economics.

First career in telecommunications working in Human Resources for 32 years.

Second career in child welfare for the past eighteen years. Volunteer and staff positions

with Dallas CASA. Court appointed advocate for children in foster care. Assisting and

supervising volunteer advocates.

Appointed to the Dallas County Child Welfare Board in 2013. Voted to the Chair

position on the Board in 2014 by fellow board members.

The Dallas County Child Welfare Board is responsible for the welfare of children in

Dallas County. The County has allocated funds which are transferred to the State and

allocated to the Department of Family and Protective Services. Those funds are

controlled by a contract between the County and the Department. The funds are

designated to family preservation efforts in Dallas County.

In addition to enforcing the terms of the contract, Board members are responsible for

keeping County Commissioners informed of the status of children in the county.

Board members serve two year terms. A citizen may serve three terms, maximum.
