David Preziosi, FAICP, Preservation Dallas

David grew up in New Jersey and moved to Plano, Texas in high school before attending Texas A&M University. There he received a Bachelor of Environmental Design (architecture), a Master of Urban Planning, and a Historic Preservation Certificate.

He began his career in historic Natchez, Mississippi serving as Assistant City Planner and then City Planner from 1996 to 2002. In 2002, he became Executive Director of the Mississippi Heritage Trust, a statewide nonprofit preservation organization. In that role he worked on educating and advocating for historic preservation, along with nominating historic districts to the National Register of Historic Places and responding to the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina on historic buildings.

In September of 2012, he returned to Texas to be the Executive Director of Preservation Dallas, an organization dedicated to the preservation and revitalization of the city’s historic buildings, neighborhoods and places. At Preservation Dallas he has worked with the board and staff on expanding programing and events, growing membership, and increasing advocacy efforts.

David was inducted into the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Certified Planners in 2018. He was heavily involved in the Mississippi Chapter of the American Planning Association where he served as president. He has been involved with the Center for Heritage Conservation at Texas A&M University and currently serves on the boards of Heritage Oak Cliff and the Greater Dallas Planning Council.
